Good article Mike. For a while I wondered what you meant by excessive collaboration. This thing is a problem. Constant organisational reflection, I think, is required; lest all meaning is lost in investing in what doesn't really matter.

Thanks Shirley. Having to ask everyone before a decision is made is a poor use of a good principle. It's generally good to involve people in decisions taken too far just wears everybody down and delays decision making. I remember one situation where everybody in a team (12+) agreed to go ahead with something and one person disagreed. Rather than just telling this person, 'tough, we are going a ahead,' progress was delayed and an endless round of meetings and e-mails was generated. Everybody was fed up.
